ALATA bids a loving farewell to one of our forefathers.

The world of athletic training lost one of its great ones on March 23, 2016. Sang Lyda was one of the legends of this profession that we all love. He was not only a legend in athletic training, he was the first President of the Alabama Athletic Trainers Association from 1982-1986. Sang served the University of Alabama from 1969-1994, working every sport on campus but spending most of his tenure with the Crimson Tide basketball program. As ALATA President, he laid the ground work for our organization that we serve today. He was inducted into the ALATA Hall of Fame in 1998. Sang will be sorely missed. He will be remembered for his love of this profession and as a wonderful friend, hero, and mentor to many athletic trainers. The ALATA Executive Council honors his memory and his legacy.
