2018 ALATA Special Election for Vice-President

Candidate Bio for  Vice-President

Joni Davenport, MS, LAT, ATC

Joni DavenportJoni Davenport currently holds the title of Clinical Education Coordinator and Clinical Athletic Trainer at the University of West Alabama. This is her fourth year at this institution and second year in this specific position.

Joni began her athletic training career at the University of West Alabama as an undergraduate student, and she earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in May 2007. In August 2007, Joni accepted a Graduate Assistant Athletic Training position at Alabama A&M University where she worked a variety of sports. In May 2010, she graduated from Alabama A&M University with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Rehabilitation Counseling. After graduation, she worked as an Athletic Trainer at Huntingdon College where she again worked a variety of sports. In August 2014, she returned to her alma mater, West Alabama, where she served as an Athletic Trainer/Instructor with the responsibilities of teaching several athletic training courses and primarily providing athletic training services to the men’s and women’s basketball teams. In August 2016, Joni transitioned to the role of Clinical Education Coordinator/Instructor and continued to provide athletic training services to the men’s basketball team. She is currently working towards her Doctorate of Athletic Training from A.T. Still University which she will complete in June 2018.

Leah Taylor, Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers Executive Secretary, will be presiding over these elections.  Please  vote online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ALATA_2018_Special_Election_VP  OR print this ballot and mail so that is received by February 7, 2018 to: Ms. Leah Taylor, Executive Secretary Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers PO Box 243011 Montgomery, Alabama  36124. Only certified/licensed athletic trainer or licensed athletic trainer members of ALATA are eligible to vote.  Voting begins January 8, 2018 and closes February 7, 2018 at 11 PM CDT; if mailed, the ballot must be received by February 7, 2018.

 

 

ALATA Annual Meeting set for June 1-2, 2018 at Samford University

The Annual Meeting and Symposium
The ALATA Annual Meeting is Alabama's largest meeting of the year geared toward the athletic trainer. The meeting draws over 150 of the state's athletic trainers. This two day meeting features the leading authorities in sports medicine presenting a variety of topics of interest for today's athletic trainer. For supplier members, the Annual Meeting is an opportunity to introduce new products, generate new customers, develop relationships and catch up on the latest issues facing the athletic trainers of Alabama. Members receive discounted registration fees.
