John W. Morr, MS, ATC
Candidate for President
John
Morr graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1986 and the
University of Kentucky with a Masters degree in 1995 and has been
Certified since July 1986. He worked at Palatine High School in
Palatine, Illinois from 1986-1988 and worked in a clinic until
October 1989. He helped establish an athletic training/sports
medicine outreach program in a rural setting in Effingham, Illinois
leaving that position in July 1992 to pursue his Masters degree. He
was hired by the University of Kentucky in 1994 until his hiring at
The University of Alabama in October 1996. He served as an adjunct
faculty at Eastern Illinois University in 1990-92 and taught
Introduction to Athletic Training at the University of Kentucky from
1993-96. He has been a CAATE Approved Clinical instructor since
2006 and Adjunct Faculty member in Athletic Training since 1997 at
The University of Alabama.
He has served on the Illinois High School Association Sports
Medicine Advisory Committee from 1990-92 and also was a Trained
Steroid Education Consultant through the Illinois State Board of
Education in 1991. He worked with District 4 as a meeting
chairperson in 1991 and has been on the NATA Career center committee
from 1999. Most recently, he served on the ALATA executive council
in a non-officer role. Volunteering as an athletic trainer for the
Prairie State Games from 1985-92 and also the Bluegrass State Games
from 1992-96 and was awarded the SEATA Backbone Award in 2002.
His experiences in the various employment environments and state,
district, and national committees have provided John the insight and
understanding of the demands at each level of service required. The
involvement of all athletic trainers in Alabama is crucial to the
growth of our profession and will serve you with the honor expected
of this office.
He and his wife, Maggie, a family practice physician, have two boys,
Will and Jake and reside in Tuscaloosa, AL.
Anthony W. Andrews,
MA, ATC, C.Ped
Candidate for Treasurer
Anthony
attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he went
through the athletic training internship, in March of 2000 he
graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Health Ed./Promotion. In
August of 2001 he graduated with a Masters in Sports Medicine
Healthcare from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa.
While working as an out-reach athletic trainer, he earned his
certification as a Pedorthist in 2003. He is currently employed by
UAB Sports Medicine.
Anthony is married and has 3 children and resides in Kimberly, AL.
Jeremy Dobbs, MA, ATC,
C.Ped
Candidate for Non-Officer Position
Since
2006, Jeremy Dobbs has been the athletic trainer for Alabama women’s
basketball and is the oversight staff athletic trainer for
volleyball. He also serves as a clinical instructor to
athletic training students in the Athletic Training Education
Program at Alabama. Prior to his current position with the Crimson
Tide, Dobbs spent four years with UAB Sports Medicine
providing medical coverage for area high school athletic events.
In 1999 Dobbs began his first tenure with Alabama where he served as
a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer working primarily with men’s
track and field and cross country. He also assisted with
football, gymnastics, soccer, basketball and tennis. He served
as the Medical Coordinator for the 2000 Southeastern Conference
Cross Country Championship meet and the Region IX Cross Country meet
that same year. Dobbs graduated with a Master of Arts from the
Capstone in Health Studies with an emphasis in Sports Medicine
Health Care in 2001.
Dobbs’ earned his Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from UAB
in 1999. Following completion of his master’s degree,
Dobbs attended the Temple University School of Podiatry completing a
clinical application in Pedorthics in 2002. This helped Dobbs
to start Alabama Pedorthic Design where he still works as part owner
and Pedorthist. Dobbs holds several certifications including
the American Board of Certified Pedorthics, National Athletic
Trainer’s Board and Alabama Athletic Trainer licensure. He is
also a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association,
Southeast Athletic Trainer’s Association and Alabama Athletic
Trainer’s Association.
Dobbs is married to the former Michelle Darnell, and the couple has
two children:
Laurie Fincher, MAE, ATC
Candidate for Non-Officer Position
Laurie
Fincher joined the UAB athletic staff in July of 2008. Fincher
comes to UAB from West Alabama, where she served as an Assistant
Athletic Trainer in charge of volleyball, as well as assisting with
football, from 2006-08. Prior to West Alabama, she was a
Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at UAB with her focus on
assisting with the Blazers' football team. Fincher began her
career as an undergraduate student at East Carolina working as a
Athletic Training student with the Pirates' athletic programs.
Fincher received her B.S. in Athletic Training from East Carolina in
2004 and her MAE in Exercise Physiology from UAB in 2006. She is an
assistant athletic trainer for football and the insurance
coordinator. Hailing from Raleigh, N.C., Fincher is an active
member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the
Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association (SEATA), and the Alabama
Athletic Trainers' Association (ALATA). She currently is the
District 9 Rep to the Young Professionals’ Committee.
Jennifer Kramer, MA, ATC
Candidate for Non-Officer Position
Jennifer
Kramer enters her fifth year at the University of Montevallo as the
Assistant Athletic Trainer. Kramer serves as the Athletic Trainer
for the Men's & Women's Soccer and Women's Basketball teams.
Kramer came to the University of Montevallo in May 2006, after
spending two years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
During her stay at UAB, Kramer earned a Master of Arts degree in
Exercise Physiology and worked as the Certified Athletic Trainer for
the volleyball and women's tennis teams. Kramer, a native of
LaGrange, Missouri completed her undergraduate work at Central
Methodist University located in Fayette, MO and received a Bachelor
of Science Degree in Athletic Training with a Minor in Biology.
