Chris King, ATC
Candidate for Non-Officer Position #1

I am starting my 20th year as a licensed teacher and certified athletic trainer in the state of Alabama.  I am originally from Oneonta, Alabama.  I am a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi holding a degree in Secondary Education/Athletic Training.  I presently have been employed at Mortimer Jordan High School for the past 11 years.  I am very proud of the fact that our program has produced many medical professionals over the years, including 6 ATCs.  Being on the high school level and with my years of experience I hope to give a perspective that may bring a different dynamic to the ALATA Executive Council.  I look forward to the opportunity to serve at the state level.  I am very eager to make a positive impact from this position.  Some of my accomplishments have been 2000 Jefferson County Teacher of the Year, 2000 ALATA High School Athletic Trainer of the Year, 2011 SEATA High School Athletic Trainer of the Year.  I am most proud of my former students that have become certified athletic trainers and other medical professionals.  I have volunteered to be the Medical Staff Coordinator for the Alabama State Games for the past 7 years which gives me the opportunity to organize many athletic trainers to provide a service to the youth of the State of Alabama.

I am very proud to have my family to support me.  I am married to Amy (also a teacher) and my sons Tyler (freshman at Southern Miss this fall) and Andrew (9th grade).  I would be honored to serve the Athletic Trainers of the State of Alabama.
