ALATA Election for Secretary |
The following are
candidates in an election for ALATA Secretary. Please read the
following biographies below and submit your
ballot as directed below.
Dawn Sawyer,
MS, ATC
Candidate for ALATA Secretary
Dawn completed her undergraduate degree from
University of Delaware (BS in Athletic Training) and her
master’s degree from the University of Alabama. Dawn was a
graduate assistant athletic trainer for Healthsouth from
2001-2003, covering mainly Spain Park High School. Dawn became
an assistant athletic trainer at Jacksonville State University
from 2003-2004. Dawn left JSU and went to work full time at
Healthsouth covering Mountain Brook High School and working in
the clinics from 2004-2005. Dawn is currently employed at The
Performance Group where she is the office/payroll manager and
assists with patient therapy. She is a member of ALATA, SEATA, and NATA. Dawn is married to Patrick
Sawyer and they have a son named Connor.
Brittany
Wilkes, M.A.E., ATC, L.A.T.
Candidate for ALATA Secretary
Brittany Wilkes works as an Athletic
Trainer at UAB Sports Medicine where she provides athletic
training services to a local high school. Prior to this, she
worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Samford
University, primarily covering women’s softball and men’s and
women’s cross country/ track and field. During this time, she
received her Master’s in Exercise Physiology at the University
of Alabama at Birmingham. Brittany graduated from Valdosta
State University with a B.S. in Sports Medicine. She is a member
of ALATA, SEATA, and NATA.
All

2010 License Renewal |
As previously notified, we have implemented some changes in our annual renewal process. We now operate within a “renewal year” which runs December 1 – November 30. Your license to practice athletic training in the State of Alabama expires 12/31/2009; to retain your license you must make application for license renewal. The Alabama Athletic Trainers Licensure Act mandates that you hold a current license to practice athletic training in our State.
License Renewal Packets are available for printing from the website of your State association, Alabama Athletic Trainers’ Association. Please access their web site at www.ALATA.org and select the “State Licensure” tab. From the “State Licensure” page select the link “Licensure Renewal Packet” where you will find the instructions and forms for your license renewal. It is imperative that you follow the instructions and complete all the forms in their entirety.
If you cannot access the forms from the internet, please call or email the Board Office, and I will email, mail, or fax a License Renewal Packet to you. Our email address is as follows: athletictrainers@bellsouth.net.
As you know, your Application for Renewal needs to be in the mail to the Board Office no later than November 30, 2009. The mailing address is Post Office Box 243011, Montgomery, Alabama 36124
If you do not intend to renew your license, please send a brief written notification stating your intention and justification for not renewing. An example of your justification would be that you have moved to another state and are no longer practicing athletic training in Alabama. You can mail, email, or fax your notification.
