License Renewal |
Consistent with the renewal-period
changes made last year, we now operate within a “renewal
year” which runs December 1 – November 30. It is during this
period that your CEUs must be earned for the following
year’s renewal.
Your license to practice athletic training in the State of
Alabama expires 12/31/2010, and to retain your license you
must make application for license renewal. The Alabama
Athletic Trainers Licensure Act mandates that you hold a
current license to practice athletic training in our State.
According to Code of Alabama, Section 34-40-12, to
practice without a license is punishable by law and, upon
conviction, violators shall be punished and fined as
provided by law.
License Renewal Packets are available for printing from the
website of your State Association, Alabama Athletic
Trainers’ Association (ALATA). Please access their web site
at
www.ALATA.org and select the “State Licensure”
tab. From the “State Licensure” page select the link
“Licensure Renewal Packet” where you will find the
instructions and forms for your license renewal. It is
imperative that you follow the instructions and complete all
the forms in their entirety.
If you cannot access the forms from the internet, please
call or email the Board Office, and I will email, mail, or
fax a License Renewal Packet to you. Our email address is as

We will begin to accept Applications for Renewal on October
1, 2010. As you know, your Application for Renewal needs to
be in the mail to the Board Office no later than November
30, 2010. After that date, they are considered late. The
mailing address is Post Office Box 243011, Montgomery,
Alabama 36124
If you do not intend to renew your license, please send a
brief written notification stating your intention and
justification for not renewing. An example of your
justification would be that you have moved to another state
and are no longer practicing athletic training in Alabama.
You can mail, email, or fax your notification.

Paul
Crawford received his BS degree from the University of North Alabama
in 1988, a Masters degree from University of West Alabama in 1990,
and his EdD degree from Delta State University in 1999. He has been
a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1989. Paul currently works in
the secondary setting at Central High School in Florence, AL as a
teacher and an athletic trainer. Paul worked as a clinical athletic
trainer for the former Healthsouth Corp, from 1996-2000. He also
served as Head Athletic Trainer in the collegiate setting at Delta
State University from 1992-1996. Prior to 1992, he served as
graduate assistant athletic trainer at UT-Chattanooga for a year and
also worked for a year for the North Alabama Sports Medicine
Institute. Paul is also currently serving as adjunct Instructor in
HPER department at University of West Alabama.
